Our environmental policy

"We at Volkswagen Infotainment are the competence centre for Connected Car, working today on what will move people tomorrow. Together with our customers, we are developing a wide brand range of innovative connectivity solutions: such as digital vehicle networking services, the VW Automotive Cloud and VW.OS." It is our aspiration to be a role model in our services and to help the Group on its way to becoming the leading provider of sustainable mobility and a role model for the protection of our environment.

We are facing up to the challenges of climate change and are committed to the United Nations' two-degree target. We are aware of our outstanding global responsibility for our environment and all related impacts on the environment and society that are associated with our actions and with our products and services.

Environmental compliance is a core value for us. Our binding obligations include legal or regulatory requirements, in particular voluntary commitments or the achievement of our environmental and energy targets. All aspects of energy policy are included in this Environmental Policy. We continuously improve the environmental compatibility of our products, processes, sites and services.

Environmental compatibility includes in particular:

  • the minimisation of pollutant emissions,
  • the improvement of resource efficiency,
  • the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by reducing fuel or energy consumption and by using low-CO2 energy sources,
  • improving energy efficiency.

Along the life cycle of our products, processes and services, we use environmentally efficient, advanced technologies to reduce the ecological footprint of our actions and products. At all our locations, we are a partner for society and politics in shaping socially and ecologically positive development.

We are committed to the overarching "TOGETHER - Strategy 2025+", the "Environmental Mission Statement - Go To Zero" and the Volkswagen Group's Environmental Policy, and we pledge to implement the following principles:

1. Leadership behaviour:

Our managers at all levels of the organisation are aware of the environmental risks arising from their business activities. They reinforce by word and deed their commitment and attitude to acting in accordance with the law and the company and to accepting their role model function for the environment. They are responsible for ensuring that the requirements described in this Environmental Policy are implemented and complied with in their area of responsibility. Our managers ensure that all employees are informed, qualified and accountable for the tasks assigned to them. They create an appropriate framework in their area of responsibility in which employees and business partners can communicate openly, particularly on sensitive environmental issues, without fear of negative consequences.

The management of Volkswagen Infotainment GmbH ensures through appropriate internal regulations that the information required for environmental and energy management is available and that the necessary resources are provided to maintain the management systems.

The environment and business decision-making criteria are given equal consideration in important corporate decisions.

The management annually reviews compliance with this environmental policy, the achievement of environmental and energy goals, and the effectiveness of our environmental compliance management system.

2. Compliance

We comply with legal and statutory requirements and adhere to our corporate standards and objectives. Our environmental compliance management system ensures that environmental aspects and obligations are identified and appropriately addressed in our business activities. Environmental violations, environment-related misconduct and deliberate disregard or deception are treated as breaches of the rules in accordance with our organisational guidelines. The compliance of our actions with the requirements of this environmental policy is evaluated annually and reported to the management of Volkswagen Infotainment GmbH and Volkswagen Group Services GmbH.

3. Protection of our environment

We interpret environmental protection holistically. It encompasses the entire life cycle and considers environmental protection in water, soil, air and raw materials. As part of our risk management, we evaluate environmentally relevant aspects as well as environmentally relevant issues and binding obligations in the context of our business activities, processes, products and our actions. We use the measures and opportunities derived from this to prevent or minimize undesirable environmental impacts. Environmental measures for emergency preparedness and hazard prevention at our development sites are included. We research and develop products, processes and services for sustainable mobility. With the aforementioned measures, we continuously improve our environmental performance and, taking into account economic feasibility, at the same time contribute to the long-term security of our company and to increasing our competitiveness.

4. Cooperation with stakeholders

Transparent and credible information as well as open dialogue with our employees, customers, suppliers, legislators, authorities and other stakeholders are a matter of course for us. We work constructively with representatives from politics and the authorities at all levels and thus face up to social challenges together.

5. Continuous improvement

Through our environmental and energy management systems, we ensure that, together with suppliers and other business partners, the environmental compatibility of our processes, products and services as well as the management systems themselves are subject to a continuous improvement process. Key environmental parameters including energy efficiency and energy savings are set with targets and tracked to continuously improve our performance
